The Quay County Clerk’s Office will be conducting the school district elections for the Tucumcari, House, Logan and San Jon School Districts.
School District elections will be Feb. 3, 2009, according to a press release.
There is only one filing day for persons to file as a candidate for a position on a school board, the release said.
Dec. 16 is the filing day for School Board Candidates. Filing must be done in the Office of the Quay County Clerk, 300 South Third St., Tucumcari, between the hours of 9 a.m. and 5 p.m.
Any person desiring to be a candidate for membership on the school board for Tucumcari, House, Logan or San Jon must file a signed “Declaration of Candidacy” in the office of the County Clerk on this date.
Any person desiring to be a candidate for school board membership must be a registered voter residing within the school district boundaries for which they are a candidate.
The election in the Tucumcari School District will be under the single member district plan, whereby the candidates will be elected by the voters of their respective district.
Board positions and lengths of terms to be elected Feb. 3, 2009 are:
• Tucumcari School District: Districts 2 and 3 – four year term; District 5 – remainder of a four year term expiring March 1, 2011
• House School District: Positions 1 and 2 – four year term
• Logan School District: Positions 4 and 5 – four year term
• San Jon School District: Positions 1, 3 and 4 – four year term; Position 2 – remainder of a four year term expiring March 1, 2011
Any person not currently registered to vote, may register through 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday Jan. 6.
