The Greater Tucumcari Economic Development Corp. is seeking an alliance between Quay County and the city of Tucumcari in hopes of securing more federal stimulus dollars.
Patrick Vanderpool, EDC executive director, suggested the alliance during Monday’s regular meeting of the GTEDC.
Vanderpool said the alliance could be a way to ensure that portions of federal stimulus money is used in Tucumcari and Quay County.
“I think it is a great idea to form an alliance and seek the stimulus money,” said GTEDC board president Franklin McCasland.
McCasland said the combined efforts of the different agencies could better serve the residents of Quay County and Tucumcari.
“It is better to seek the money together rather than apply against one another for the same funds,” McCasland said.
The board voted to look into forming the alliance with the other agencies.
