A check for $8,500 from an anonymous donor has been presented to Tucumcari High School student Donnie Price, 15, to be used for his education at Mesalands Community College.

The donor toured Mesalands Dinosaur Museum where Price works as a volunteer and was impressed with Price's knowledge, volunteerism and goals for the future.

Price has logged 1,500 volunteer hours at the museum, where he works in the lab and serves as a tour guide.

A junior at Tucumcari High School, Price is  enrolled in the concurrent program at Mesalands.

He plans to start as a full-time student at Mesalands in the fall.

Following Mesalands, Price said he hopes to attend the University of California Berkeley and pursue his interests in paleontology.

He is the son of Joe and Jen Pinkston.
