Larry Moore president of the Tucumcari Rotary Club presents a check to Sid Truelock and Wyatt Bishop, Quay County 4-Hers. The donation was used to purchase a red fox, porcupine, and raccoon for the 4-H shooting sports program fund raiser.

 

The Quay County 4-H Shooting Sports program is hosting its innagural 3D archery shoot as a fundraiser to provide equipment for the archery and shooting program. The shoot will be 7:30 a.m., Aug. 1 at Five Mile park east of Tucumcari.

There will be eight classes for people to choose to shoot in. First place prize for the adult classes are block targets. The classes are Open, Bow Hunter, Senior, Traditional, Women, Young Adult, Youth, Cubs and Pee Wees. Every Pee Wee entered will receive a metal. Youth class prizes will 18 in 1’s and the 9” target ball. Entry fees are $30 for adults; Youth 12-17, $15, Cubs; 8-11, $5 and 8-and-under free. Two mulligans can be purchased $5, but shooters are limited to one mulligan per half of the course.

The course will be 20 targets, each shot twice to equal 40 targets. We will be following IBO rules.

Camping will not be allowed, but there are plenty of accommodations in

Tucumcari. There will be a lunch concession run by the 4-Hers and some

parents. There will be a “Pick of the Litter” table raffle, with tickets running $1 each or six for $5.

Pre-raffle tickets are currently being sold for a Hoyt Alpha Max bow.

Tickets are $10 each or three for $20 and will be available at the 3D

shoot or from the Quay County Extension Office. The winning ticket will

be drawn the afternoon of Aug. 1.
