Tucumcari – Casey Reif, 22 of Decatur, Ill. was fatally injured in a

single vehicle roll-over.

Officers from the Tucumcari State Police office responded to a vehicle

crash just after 1 a.m. in eastern New Mexico Friday morning. Through the

officers’ investigation, they learned that Andrew Reif, 22 also of

Illinois was traveling eastbound on I-40 near milepost 328 in

their 2005 Mazda. Reif drove into the median and abruptly overcorrected

to the right sending the vehicle into a rolling motion driver’s side over

passenger side.

Andrew Reif and his 2 year old son Garrett Reif were transported to the

Tucumcari Hospital for medical attention; Andrew Reif was listed in

critical condition while Garrett was listed in stable condition. Casey

Reif died on scene as a result of the injuries sustained in the crash and

was pronounced deceased on scene by the Office of the Medical

Investigator. Restraints were used at the time of the crash and alcohol

was not listed as a contributing factor.
