Graduation
Amanda Lucille Tapia of Tucumcari received a Post-Baccalaureate certificate in Mathematics from Smith College on Sunday. She was one of the 85 advanced degree and diploma candidates who graduated during the college’s 132nd commencement exercises. Tapia is a 2005 graduate of Tucumcari High School. Before beginning advanced studies at Smith, she graduated from Regis University in Denver with a Bachelor of Arts in Spanish and minors in Neuroscience and Mathematics.

Rocio Acosta of Tucumcari will celebrate her 15th birthday Saturday at the Del Norte Center. Her parents, Marciano and Marcela Acosta, and her brothers and sisters, will host the celebration. Rocio Acosta was born May 15, 1995 in Mexico.

Jaegar Strong of Tucumcari has just completed his first year at New Mexico Military Institute in Roswell. He is the son of Stan and Clair Strong of Tucumcari. His grandparents are Bob and Gay Strong of Portales, Worth Smelser of Cuba and Julie Smelser of Las Cruces. He is the great grandson of Jane Strong of Tucumcari. He is on the Dean's list and was active in Colts baseball and football. He was awarded the Presidential Award for Academic Excellence.
