More than 53 percent of Quay County residents turned out at the polls for the 2010 midterm election, according to Quay County Clerk Ellen White.
“These numbers are very high for a midterm election,” White said.
Of the 5,700 voters, 3,044 casted their ballot for Tuesday’s election.
“Overall, I think that New Mexico voters are realizing in order to make a change they need to get involved,” White said.
White said the totals are not official as provisional ballots still need to be tabulated.
