Officers converse outside the Tucumcari Inn as a crime scene investigation takes place Thursday evening.

New Mexico State Police are investigating the deaths of two men at a Tucumcari motel where officers suspect foul play.

“At this time we consider the two deaths to be suspicious,” said State Police Capt. Jimmy Glascock.

Glascock said two men were found deceased in a hotel room Thursday at the Tucumcari Inn located on the 1700 block of East Route 66.

“Tucumcari Police Department responded to the call initially but has since turned it over to state police,” said Tucumcari Police Chief Jason Braziel.

Glascock said Tucumcari police responded to the call and once they observed the scene they secured it until their crime scene unit arrived.

“The bodies were discovered by a family member looking through the window around noon,” Braziel said.

Glascock said both of the deceased are adults and a positive identification of the two men has not been made at this time.
