Jonathan and Rachel Thigpen of Palestine, Texas, are pleased announce the engagement of their daughter, Rebecca Thigpen of Abilene, Texas, to Joshua Farrow of Abilene, son of Tim and Michelle Farrow of Andrews. Grandparents are Homer and Joan Farrow and Don and Sue Best of Tucumcari.
The bride-to-be is pursing a degree in ministry at Hardin-Simmons University in Abilene. She is currently employed at Randy Wilson’s Law Firm in Abilene, Texas as a secretary.
The groom-elect is pursing a degree in accounting at Hardin-Simmons in Abilene. He is currently employed at Enterprise Rent-A-Car in Abilene as a service agent.
The couple’s wedding will be at 2 p.m., on Aug. 20 at the First Baptist Church in Abilene.

Arguello-Montano

Victor and Gloria Arguello, of Tucumcari announces the marriage of their daughter Debbie Arguello-Montano, of Tucumcari, to Gary Montano of Tucumcari, son of Gilbert and Clara Montano of Rio Rancho. The couple exchanged vows June 19, 2011, at a private ceremony. The bride is a 1988 graduate of Tucumcari High School. The groom is a 1986 graduate of Tucumcari High School and is a retired U.S. Army veteran and inventor.

Montano

Gary and Debbie Montano of Tucumcari are the parents of a 7 pound, 2 ounce boy born on July 9, 2011, at Plains Regional Medical Center in Clovis. Frankie Joe Montano has one brother, Patrick Alfredo Gonzales, and has one sister, Morgan Rae Ann Montano. Grandparents are Victor and Gloria Arguello of Tucumcari and Gilbert and Clara Montano of Rio Rancho.

4-Hers compete in conference

Five Quay County 4-H’ers ventured to Las Cruces July 11 for the state 4-H conference where they competed in several contests each. Several were judging in new contests this year to complete teams.
In the entomology contest, the team placing first was made up of Taylor Atwood, Randall Rush, Bethany Bishop, and Joesph Schallert. Rush was the high point individual and second high point was Atwood.
In the land judging contest, the team placed second and was made up of Rush, Atwood, Bishop, and Cody Massey. Rush was fourth high individual.
In dairy judging, Rush was the high point individual.
In the talent show in the instrumental division, Joesph Schallert placed second.
