Altrusa announces Cash Party winners
Altrusa International of Tucumcari hosted their annual Cash Party on Oct. 29 at the Quay County Exhibition Center. Three hundred tickets were sold to the event with the ticket holder of the last number drawn, taking home $15,000, and the runner up taking home $500.
Proceeds of the event benefit Altrusa community service projects throughout the year.
The theme of this year’s Cash Party was “Share a Touchdown with Altrusa!” Guests to the event wore their favorite football jerseys and enjoyed popular tailgating foods such as sloppy joes, hot dogs, nachos, and cookies.
At this year’s Cash Party, the last two ticket holders decided to split the grand prize. Ticket holders, Roy Dumas and Cotton Earle, took home $7,750 each, this amount includes the grand prize and the runner up prize.
In addition to the excitement of waiting for their numbers to be called, guests at the Cash Party were entertained with jokes and Altrusa facts from Master of Ceremony Dennis Roch and Mistress of Ceremony Ellen White.
Roch is a New Mexico state representative and Ellen White is the Quay County clerk.
After all 300 numbers were announced, guests enjoyed music by the band Limited Edition.
Altrusa would like to thank all of the sponsors of the event and the many community members who purchased a ticket. Altrusa will use the proceeds from the Cash Party to fund various projects, including, to promote literacy, to fund college scholarships, to beautify Dunn Park, and to support non-profit organizations such as, Main Street Landscaping, Helping Hands Hospice,
the Hospital Auxiliary, the New Mexico Boys and Girls Ranches, Ronald McDonald Houses, Art Space, the Summer Reading Program at the Tucumcari Public Library, the Community Easter Egg Hunt, and Relay for Life.
Violet Rochelle Valverde was born on Oct. 10, 2011, in Clovis.
She weighed 5-pounds 12-ounce and was 19-inches long.
She is the daughter of Carlos Valverde and Monica Meier.
Violet has two brothers, Cameron and James, and three sisters, Erica, Alex and Robin.
Violet’s grandparents are Charlie Valverde, Judy Martinez, Nick Meier and the late Jackie Meier.
Violet’s great-grandmother is Vera Cordova and great-grandfather is the late Pete Valverde Sr.
