A new physician has joined the Presbyterian Family Medicine Clinic in Tucumcari.
Dr. Thomas Doncaster, D.O., who prefers to be called “Dr. Tom,” started his new duties at the clinic on Monday after completing two weeks of training in Presbyterian’s electronic record-keeping system.
Doncaster did ranch work in the Roy area in the 1980s and decided to change his career after three years of that kind of labor. He never lost his love of ranch life, though, he said, and recently bought some acreage in the Roy area. He has returned to the area to be close to that property.
He and his wife Lisa, a licensed practical nurse, live in Tucumcari but plan to visit the Roy property on weekends.
Doncaster moved to Tucumcari a few weeks ago from Williamsburg, Ky., after practicing medicine there for 18 years.
“Our youngest graduated from high school, and we decided it was time,” Doncaster said.
Doncaster is a graduate of the Kirksville School of Osteopathy in Kirksville, Mo. He received his bachelor’s degree from Western New Mexico University, Silver City, in 1982.
