Plateau wireless’ engineers resolved a technical issue that had interrupted all of their wireless customers’ service for three hours on Friday afternoon.
‘Service was restored at 3:55 p.m., the first reports from our customers came in at 12:50 p.m., informing us of a possible wireless system failure,” said David Robinson, chief financial officer.
Failure of an element within the network caused the outage, said Vince Tyson, chief operations officer.
Tyson said issues like this are pretty rare and Plateau plans to go through an engineering analysis to determine why the element went bad and ensure a problem like this does not occur again.
Customers affected by the outage included residents in Quay, Curry and Roosevelt Counties.
Robinson said while Plateau’s wireless system was down; their fiber optic, DSL and home phones services had not been interrupted.
