The Tucumcari Chamber of Commerce and Tucumcari Rotary Club will hold a joint annual fundraiser Friday at the Elks Lodge.
“The Chamber approached us to coordinate our events this year,” said, Bob McClelland Jr., a Rotary Club member.
McClelland said this is the first year the Rotary has decided to hold a joint annual fundraiser. He said they will see how the joint effort goes before they make it a yearly event.
This year’s even will be a shrimp broil, said Lisa Lauriault, Chamber of Commerce Assistant Director.
Lauriault said the fundraiser portion for the Rotary is for the annual air show and scholarships.
“The Chamber will use its proceeds to fund future events in Tucumcari,” Lauriault said.
Lauriault said there will also be a Silent Auction to benefit both the Chamber of Commerce and the Rotary Club. Each time a bid is made on an item a person will be entered into a drawing for a new 42-inch flat panel TV.
“The items for the silent auctions are supposed to be some very nice items,” McClelland said.
Ticket prices are $20 per adult and $15 for children under the age of 12. Tickets are available at the Chamber of Commerce office, (575)461-1694, and will be available at the door.
Some of the donated items for the silent auction include:
• Original Painting – Doug Quarles
• Two Route 66 Neon Signs – Bob & Linda Beaulieu
• Handmade Pottery Lamp w/Shade – Mark Lake
• $500 Gift Certificate toward the purchase of a new car – Brian Urlacher Cross Country
