VFW honors middle school student

Gale Munsell, 11, of Tucumcari was honored recently with the VFW Patriot’s Pin award at a ceremony in Albuquerque. Munsell was selected for his winning essay on “Why American Veterans Should be Honored.” His essay won first place in the Tucumcari VFW Post 2528 competition and placed second in the statewide competition. In addition to the award, Munsell received a $300 savings bond. He is the son of Gale and Shari Munsell of Tucumcari.
